About Edward V. Byrne...

Kansas trial lawyer Edward V. Byrne is well-known in the district courts of Johnson County and Miami County, where he began practicing more than 20 years ago. As a prominent local criminal defense attorney, Mr. Byrne has been involved in numerous high profile cases since 1977. He has defended hundreds of accused persons in felony and misdemeanor prosecutions, ranging from battery and crimes of domestic violence to sexual assault, drug charges and first degree murder. Although an expert in all aspects of Kansas criminal law, Mr Byrne is particularly experienced in the defense of sex charges, including rape, indecent liberties and sex abuse claims involving adults and minors. A respected veteran of many jury trials in Olathe and Paola, Byrne is well-known among local lawyers and judges for his aggressive and tenacious defense of the criminally accused.

Mr. Byrne's background and credentials put him on a "short list" of the most experienced and capable trial attorneys and criminal defense lawyers in eastern Kansas. He received his undergraduate degree from prestigious Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and his Juris Doctor degree from American University Law School, a prominent national institution which has educated some of the country's leading attorneys and judges. After completing his studies Mr. Byrne passed the Illinois and Kansas bar examinations, and he is admitted to practice in both states. He then pursued advanced trial advocacy programs in Chicago, San Francisco and Houston. In 1991, Mr Byrne graduated from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the premier trial training organization in the United States. An avid researcher and writer with a scholarly interest in the law, Mr. Byrne has received a mark of distinction in the legal profession by having articles accepted for publication in the University of Kansas Law Review and the Kansas Bar Association Journal.

In addition to being an expert trial attorney and criminal lawyer, Mr. Byrne also concentrates in domestic and family law, including divorce and legal separation, child custody disputes, child support litigation and related areas. He is also available for consultation in personal injury and accident cases, consumer bankruptcy, IRS and tax disputes, appeals and civil litigation of all types.

In The Courtroom There is no substitute for experience Edward V. Byrne reminds you of the following: "The courtroom is no place for beginners or for on the job training. Despite the very large number of lawyers in practice today, only a few can legitimately claim to be trial attorneys. As in any profession, there is simply no substitute for long years of experience. Whenever your substantial rights are at stake -- whenever your money, personal liberty or both are the subject of a pending legal proceeding -- seek out the very best representation available. Settle for nothing less than a lawyer who knows his way around the courtroom, who will stand up and fight for you."
